Bringing ground-breaking new innovations to market is not quick and simple. The R&D work and preparations for market entry for iLOQ’s latest innovation took up much of 2021. The launch of iLOQ HOME was a fulfilling moment, seeing the first reactions to a project that had been a long time coming. At the same time, it is only the beginning of the story and it’s time to hit the ground running. Even before the public launch, some 1000 partners and resellers were introduced to the new gamechanger. It was received with great excitement. The next steps (already on-going at time of publication) will include reseller training and sales support.

iLOQ HOME fundamentally changes the dynamics of how people live in their homes, whether they are rented or owned. At the heart of the solution is the iLOQ HOME app that can be used on iOS and Android smart phones giving a new degree of freedom to residents to control the keys to their home. Features that could previously only be accessed by the system administrator of the entire locking system have been handed over to the residents. This means things like managing keys for family members, blocking lost or stolen keys, ordering new keys and even updating keys’ access rights with their smartphones using NFC technology. In essence, we are giving the end users of the keys access to all the benefits of iLOQ while simultaneously lightening the day-to-day load and responsibilities of building management. It is a true win-win solution.

A technology platform that understands people

The new solution is available to locking systems based on the iLOQ S5 and iLOQ 5 Series platform. It is an added-value service which has the possibility to integrate with virtually all other building systems, becoming an integral part of the smart home experience. The app can already be used for unlocking the building’s main entrance remotely or for easy sharing of an access code, for example, for deliveries or visiting friends. It can also be used to make bookings for communal spaces from laundry rooms to gyms or saunas. The open API makes the inclusion of things like mobile payment options possible. The needs of buildings and the people living in them are varied, which is why iLOQ HOME is designed to be extremely flexible and customizable.

iLOQ HOME also takes into consideration the many types of building management procedures that are common practice around the world. Not only does this solution open up a world of opportunities (and added security) in cultures where the master key is commonly in use, but it also addresses one of the big challenges faced in places like central Europe where building management and maintenance services typically never have a master key that would grant access to individual apartments. With the iLOQ HOME app, residents can now give temporary access to service keys held by building maintenance for a limited time, granting access when repairs are needed, in the case of an emergency or if they have lost their key and need to get the door opened for them.

Endless opportunities for a more open world

It is worth remembering that where we stand today with iLOQ HOME is just the beginning. We have built a platform for smarter living. Now starts the journey of continuous development and discovery. We have already identified many opportunities for future functionalities. In a study carried out with an independent third party, we have scoped out possible future developments and focus areas, all based on feedback from our existing and potential new residential segment customers, iLOQ resellers and end users alike. The crown jewels from this feedback will certainly be a part of the next updates of iLOQ HOME. Also, through mobile software development kits (SDK), the features of our app can be seamlessly integrated into existing apps of building owners and operators in rental properties to further enrich their offering to residents.
